About the role
As the inaugural General Counsel (Global) reporting to the CFO, you’ll lead all legal, compliance, and governance activities across multiple regions. You’ll advise executives and business leaders on commercial, privacy, IP, and risk matters; driving smart, practical solutions that enable growth and protect the business. This is a hands-on, strategic role for a commercially minded lawyer who thrives in a fast-moving SaaS environment.

Duties
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Commercial Contracting
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts (SaaS, vendor, partner, NDAs, employment related, licencing and procurement).
- Develop and maintain contract templates, playbooks, and approval processes for consistency and efficiency.
- Partner with internal teams to streamline workflows and support deal execution.
- Deliver timely, practical legal advice across global operations.
- Oversee compliance with laws and regulations in multiple jurisdictions.
- Advise on corporate governance, privacy, data protection, and risk management.
- Manage external counsel relationships and oversee specialised legal matters.
- Support the CFO and Board with governance processes, including registers, minutes, and resolutions.
- Ensure global entities meet local corporate and regulatory obligations.
- Identify, assess and mitigate legal and commercial risks.
- Develop, review and maintain internal policies and compliance frameworks.
- Provide training and education on key legal topics such as IP, privacy, and contract management.
- Support M&A, fundraising, and strategic partnerships from a legal and due diligence perspective.
- Anticipate and manage emerging legal risks as the company scales.
- 7–10 years’ post-admission experience in private practice and/or in-house roles with experience advising Technology businesses
- Strong commercial and contract law background, in tech or SaaS essential
- Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex agreements (vendor, client, partnership, SaaS, licensing)
- Solid understanding of global data privacy, IP, and risk management principles
- Demonstrated expertise in employment law, with the ability to interpret and apply complex workplace legislation pragmatically
- Excellent communication, prioritisation, and project management skills
- Commercially minded, collaborative, and solutions focused
- Experience with CLM platforms (e.g. DocuSign)
