Once you have submitted an application to one of our advertised jobs this is what you can expect:

• Assessing your Application: we acknowledge receipt of applications within 24-48 hours of receiving it, and then determine your suitability for the position. Please note that due to the high volume of responses we receive for certain positions, we may have specified in the job ad that you can assume you have not been successful with your application if you have not received a phone call or follow up email from one of our Consultants within 48 hours. 
• Chat with a Legal People Consultant: if you are a suitable candidate for the position, our Consultant will contact you via phone or email and invite you to either an in-person or online meeting with them. This initial meeting is approximately 30-45 minutes and takes place either at our offices or virtually via Microsoft Teams. 
• Ongoing guidance: after meeting with us, we maintain contact with you every step of the way, from submitting your application to clients, the interview process, reference checks and negotiating remuneration. Our personalised approach ensures a smooth transition into your new role!

If you have submitted your resume to us by completing the 'Submit Resume' form on our website, this is what you can expect:

• Assessing your resume: we acknowledge receipt within 24-48 hours of receiving your resume, and then determine if there are suitable opportunities or ways we can assist in your job search.  
• Contact with a Legal People Consultant: if there are any suitable opportunities or ways we can assist you, one of our Consultants will contact you via phone or email. Yes, you can register with more than one recruitment consultancy. To achieve the best results we recommend you:

• Let your Consultant know what other agencies you have registered with to avoid duplicate applications for the same role. 
• Keep a full list of your applications. Keeping an accurate record of your applications also helps you avoid duplicate applications. You can do this by recording (1) the companies you have been submitted to and (2) whether it was submitted by you directly or via a recruitment agency.

Relationships are important and we want you to have confidence in your consultant and the level of service that you receive. If you would like Legal People to represent you, register by submitting your CV to us. In the 'Message' section give us a brief summary of your experience, qualifications, how soon you'd be able to start a new role, and the types of roles you are interested in. 

• Your prospects when returning to work after a period of absence will depend on the length of the absence and the extent to which you have kept up with your skills and knowledge. For some people and certain roles there will be no difficulty. For others, it may take longer. 
• During your absence, keep your skills current to help your employment search when you are ready to return to work. For an office support position, this may mean brushing up on your computer skills. For professional legal or management positions, it may mean attending a seminar or conference that updates you on what is current in your specialty, or researching changes to legislation or policy.

The length of time it takes to secure a new position depends on a number of factors, such as your level of experience, area of specialisation and your notice period. Generally speaking, it can take:

• 1 to 2 weeks for clients to shortlist for interview. Most companies tend to undertake a 2 stage interview process in addition to skills testing (if relevant) and reference checking. 
• 1- 4 weeks from registering with us for a specific role to being offered the position.

• Most private practice law firms tend to recruit Traineeships and 1st year lawyer roles directly, rather than through a recruitment agency. 
• From time to time however, we do receive requests from our clients to assist with recruitment of junior roles, so we encourage you to register with us!
