    About the role
    An exciting opportunity for an experienced Education Lawyer (5+ years PAE) to join a collaborative in-house team, delivering strategic advice across school-based legal matters, including, but not limited to; education law, child safety obligations, discrimination, criminal law, privacy, debt recovery, contracts, copyright and reporting obligations, parent conduct, and interpreting court orders.

    Duties
    In this role you will:
    • Advise on complex education law matters, including child safety obligations, discrimination, criminal law, privacy, debt recovery, contracts, copyright and reporting obligations, parent conduct, and interpreting court orders
    • Partner on strategic initiatives, shaping decisions and aligning legal advice with organisational priorities
    • Design and deliver practical guidance, templates and training to strengthen school-based capability
    • Monitor and interpret legislative change, assess operational impact, and deliver clear, actionable guidance to the business
    • Manage legal matters proactively, maintaining responsiveness, clear communication and accurate records
    • Foster trusted stakeholder relationships and support the growth of junior lawyers
       
    Skills & experience
    You are an admitted lawyer with 5+years PAE Education law experience , who is eager to grow in a supportive, purpose-driven legal team. You bring:
    • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders
    • A high level of attention to detail and sound problem-solving ability
    • Good time management and organisational skills
    • A collaborative and professional approach, with the ability to work under supervision
    • A commitment to child safety and the values of Integrity, Respect, and Excellence
    About our client
    Our client owns and operates approximately 300 schools in and around Melbourne. Their Corporate Legal team is based in the Melbourne head office situated in the inner CBD and close to public transport.
