    About the role
    An excellent opportunity for an experienced Workplace and Employment Lawyer (5+ years PAE) to join a collaborative in-house legal team, delivering strategic advice across school-based legal matters, including, but not limited to ; workplace relations, industrial relations, employment law, safety, and discrimination.

    Duties
    In this role you will:
    • Advise on complex employment, workplace, and industrial disputes and litigation, supporting strategic organisational decisions.
    • Ensure compliance with court and procedural obligations, including filing of defences, discovery, interrogatories, mediation, trial preparation, and other interlocutory steps.
    • Assess claims and risks early, developing strategies to achieve timely resolution while prioritising child safety.
    • Deliver clear, practical briefings and legal updates to support informed management decisions.
    • Develop templates, resources, and training to strengthen internal capability.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders and legal team members, maintaining accurate records and supporting high-quality outcomes.
    Skills & experience
    You are an admitted lawyer with  5+years PAE Workplace and Employment law experience , who is eager to grow in a supportive, purpose-driven legal team. You bring:
    • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, with the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders
    • A high level of attention to detail and sound problem-solving ability
    • Good time management and organisational skills
    • A collaborative and professional approach, with the ability to work under supervision
    • A commitment to child safety and the values of Integrity, Respect, and Excellence
    About our client
    Our client owns and operates approximately 300 schools in and around Melbourne. Their Corporate Legal team is based in the Melbourne head office situated in the inner CBD and close to public transport.
