  • About the role
    This is an opportunity to join a highly regarded planning team advising on a broad range of planning law, environment law and local government matters. Working closely with experienced practitioners, you will gain exposure to complex and high-value projects across the full property lifecycle.
    You will act for a diverse client base including developers, landowners, councils and other stakeholders, providing strategic and commercially focused advice in a collaborative team environment.

    What you'll be doing
    • Advising on planning and environmental law, including statutory frameworks and planning controls
    • Preparing and reviewing planning permit applications, amendments and supporting documentation
    • Assisting with planning scheme amendments, precinct structure plans and development contributions
    • Drafting and advising on agreements (including section 173 agreements and related instruments)
    • Acting in planning disputes, including merits appeals and enforcement proceedings
    • Appearing (or assisting with appearances) before tribunals and panels such as VCAT and Planning Panels
    • Liaising with clients, consultants, councils and regulatory authorities
    • Supporting due diligence processes for property acquisitions and developments    
    What we're looking for
    • 2–3 years’ PAE in planning, environment or property law
    • Strong understanding of (or genuine interest in) planning and development frameworks
    • Experience with planning permits, appeals or local government processes (highly regarded)
    • Excellent drafting, analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with clients and stakeholders
    • The ability to work both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team
