  • About the role
    An outstanding opportunity has arisen for an experienced Insurance Lawyer (8+ years' PAE) to join a highly regarded Melbourne Insurance team. Working closely with a respected Partner, you will advise leading insurer clients across a broad range of insurance matters, with a particular focus on property damage, strata insurance and personal injury claims.

    This is an initial 12-month contract with the opportunity to work on complex litigation, build strong client relationships and mentor junior lawyers within a collaborative national practice.

    Duties
    In this role you will:
    • Advise insurer clients on coverage, liability, quantum and litigation strategy.
    • Prepare pleadings, evidence, legal advice and settlement proposals.
    • Conduct and appear in interlocutory hearings, mediations and settlement conferences in the County, Supreme and Federal Courts.
    • Build strong relationships with insurer clients, brokers and claims managers.
    • Mentor junior lawyers and contribute to the continued success of the team.
    The ideal candidate
    To be successful in this role, you'll ideally bring:
    • At least 8 years' PAE gained within a reputable defendant insurance practice (relevant in-house insurance experience will also be considered).
    • Strong technical expertise in insurance litigation with excellent drafting, advocacy and negotiation skills.
    • Experience appearing in the County, Supreme and/or Federal Courts, including interlocutory hearings, mediations and settlement conferences
    • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
    • Previous mentoring or leadership experience will be highly regarded.
